8legs Racing is a Touring Car race team based
in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Our focus is primarily the Castrol Canadian
Touring Car Championship, with the occasional BMW and CASC-OR
club race thrown in to the mix. The race car brand of choice
is BMW, although we also have a Mercury Courgar in the stable.
8legs Racing was founded by Arek
Wojciechowski and Eric
Hochgeschurz in 2006 as a means to pool resources and
go racing. Arek had the car (the #10 BMW M3), and Eric had
the shop. Perfect match! In 2007 a second BMW was added
(the #11 BMW 328is), and preperations were completed to enter
the full 2008 CCTCC race season where both drivers would
compete for points in the championship.
The 2008 season started very well indeed, with Arek finishing on
the podium in the first race and taking the
overall points lead by mid-season, only to be plauged by
DNFs in the later half. Eric was consistent thoughout, and
the final standings saw Arek in 5th place and Eric in 6th place
overall in the championship. In addion to the CCTCC, the
8legs team placed 2nd in class and 3rd overall in the
CASC-OR War Bonnet Enduro. Early in 2008, the Mercuy Cougar
was added as a backup car, and was driven by Ken Baird at the
Calabogie event in the GT Sprints series.
As a great start to the 2009 race season, the 8legs team
headed down to sunny Florida for the PBOC Winterfest at Sebring
International Raceway. Sharing the #11 car, the team was
rewarded by placing 1st in class and 5th overall in the 6 hour
sundown enduro. A fantastic finish in the brutal Sebring
environment! Once the snow melted in Canada, the
2009 CCTCC season was underway. The Mercury Cougar
backup car was quickly made good use of at the first event
when the #10 car lost the engine (catastrophic valve
failure). The remainder of the 2009 season saw consistent top
10 finishes from both drivers, with several 5th and 4th place
finishes, but the podium would remain elusive. A great finish
nonetheless, with Arek in 4th overall and Eric in 6th overall. Ken
Baird made good use of the Cougar and joined the 8legs team at the
Toronto, Trois-Rivieres, and Calabogie events.
2010 will bring many changes to the team's racing effort.
The #10 and #11 BMWs have been retired, and new cars are being
built for the 2010 season. Keep tabs on the progress on this
website!
